The Bluff Park community really knows how to celebrate the holidays! We have put together our annual Christmas Roundup of events and church happenings. If you are looking for a spirited parade, we’ve got it.Are you looking for the best decorated house in the neighborhood or looking for a local church to visit this Christmas? Any of our Bluff Park churches are happy to have you spend Christmas with them.

 

Events

 

Bluff Park Christmas Parade
Date: December 7
Time:  10:00am
Where: leaving from Shades Cliff Park and traveling across Cloudland to Lester to Clearview and back to Hawksbury, ending at Shades Cliff Park.  See all the decorated floats, cars, and festive walking groups. The secret judges will judge floats in three new categories this year: Tackiest Float, Most Musical, and Most Christmas Spirit!

 

Annual Boy Scout Troop 21 Christmas Tree Sale
Dates: Sale starts November 29
Times: Mondays-Fridays 4:00pm-8:00pm
Saturdays 8:00am-8:00pm
Sundays 12:00pm-8:00pm

Deck The Bluff Christmas Lights Contest
Date: Dec. 9th-Dec. 25th
Organizer: Lauren Allums Wade.
There is a $5 entry to help cover the cost of signs. Each house that enters will get a sign with a number for folks to text to vote.

(This fee is to help cover our sign/voting cost)
– Have your house decorated beginning Dec. 9th-Dec. 25th
– Voting will begin Dec. 9th and end Dec. 25th. We’ll announce a winner Dec. 26th!

Join BCC Christmas Eve for songs and readings to meditate on the arrival of the King. Service is 45 min.

 

Church On The Bluff

12th Annual Lights on the Bluff
Date: Saturday, December 14
Time: 5:00pm-7:30pm
Join Church on the Bluff for Lights on the Bluff, the best fun-filled family event of the season. There will be a live nativity with interactive caroling at 5:00pm. Then take a hayride tour of some of the best lights of Bluff Park. Enjoy a hot dog cooked over an open fire at the old-fashioned weenie and marshmallow roast, or warm up with hot chocolate, coffee, and wassail. Kids will love the “Make and Take” Christmas ornaments. There is no cost, so bring family and friends for a wonderful Christmas experience.

Christmas Eve Service
Date: December 24
Time: 5:00pm
All are invited to attend this hour long service, which features musical worship, a Christmas message from Pastor Rick Goertzen, and a candlelight worship time.

St. Nicholas’ Workshop
Date: Saturday December 7
Time: 1:00 pm
This is a time of storytelling, music, crafts, and cookies around the story of St. Nicholas.

Traditional Service of Lessons and Carols
Date: Sunday December 8,
Time: 10:00am
This is an Advent celebration which takes us through the biblical signs and prophecies leading up to the birth of Jesus. Lessons alternate with traditional carols and anthems. There is a reception to follow. All are welcome.
*Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.

Christmas Pageant
Date: Sunday December 15,
TIme: 10:00am
This is a service in which the Christmas narrative is acted out by the children in the parish. All are welcome

Christmas Eve services
Date: Tuesday, December 24
Times: 4:00pm service will include Holy Eucharist, and geared toward all ages.
9:00pm service is traditional “Midnight Mass” only earlier. There will be lots of music, candlelight, and celebration. All are welcome.
